Home of Buxton Mineral Water and surrounded by the Peak National Park, the Spa town of Buxton offers something for all visitors.

The Georgian Crescent & Terrace Gardens, the Pavilion Gardens with 23 acres of pleasure grounds and the Edwardian Buxton Opera House, which offers an all year round programme including the International Opera Festival Gilbert & Sullivan, drama and ballet, form a focal point for many visitors.

With many high street names in the shopping centre, the Thermal Baths and Old Court House arcades, Buxton has a splendid choice of specialist shops also.

The higher Buxton area holds twice weekly street markets and a monthly British Farmers market. There are also Antique & Craft Fairs, regularly held in the Victorian Octagon of The Pavilion Gardens.

Easily accessible from Buxton, the Peak District embraces more than 200 square miles of stunning countryside. Wonderful for serious and amateur walkers alike, caving, climbing, cycling and sailing are also superbly well catered for. Nearby is Chatsworth House, seat of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, a popular destination for visitors enjoying the stately home, its gardens and farm shop supplying local produce.

Also nearby is Haddon Hall, an original Baronial Hall with formal gardens, used for many TV dramas and films.

Unique to the area, many Derbyshire Villages dress their wells with flowers and other natural materials. Originally a pagan festival, nowadays, the wells usually depict Biblical scenes.

Castleton is a charming village, famous for the labyrinth of underground caves nearby, and a cluster of shops selling the rare Blue John stone, all situated in the shadow of Peveril Castle.

Chatsworth is one of Britain’s best loved historic houses and estates, offering something for everyone to enjoy, from famous works of art and the spectacular fountains in the garden to the finest shopping, food and drink and many miles of free walks.

Over 50 stands gather each month in the Pavilion Gardens Octagon. Two major antique fairs with vetted exhibits are held in May and October.

The Cavendish Golf Course designed by Dr Alister McKenzie is an outstanding 18 hole course on inundating and partially wooded farmland.
